rePlaying the Grid

In 2018, the Philadelphia Print Center approached me about organizing a show of my work, slated for summer of 2020. I took this opportunity to explore ways I could invite the viewer into unseen parts of my process, and to make visible my decades long ‘field work’ wandering the city and noticing the public phenomena Philadelphia endlessly provides.Taking inspiration from the artist Öyvind Fahlström, I made a kind of game out of it. The exhibition included a take-away publication that invited viewers to wander the city noticing and making connections as a form of play. And my research into the connections between games, play, and print history led to the objects created for the exhibition.
